Ulcer is an open sore or lesion mucous membrane accompanied by sloughing of inflamed necrotic tissue. Peptic ulcer occurs in the lower end of the esophagus, in the stomach usually at lower curvature, in the duodenum or on the jejunal side. It is caused by gastric acid and pepsin.
Other causes of peptic ulcers are:
Drugs like NSAID
Bacteria like Helicobacter pylori
Gnawing pain at epigastrium appearing 1 to 3 hours after meal
Heart burn, nausea etc.
